Liz’s physiotherapy career started in 2001 within Poole NHS Trust after graduating from Coventry University with a 1st class honours degree. She worked in the NHS as a senior member of the Musculoskeletal team, progressing to Orthopaedic team leader specialising in trauma and rehabilitation. Working closely with a range of consultants she became heavily involved in the development of various evidence based musculoskeletal and orthopaedic protocols. In addition, she worked for both the Nuffield and Harbour private hospitals and spent time outside of work setting up and providing a physiotherapy service for the Under 18s Dorset County Rugby teams. She ran an injury prevention screening programme and has developed this for several other sporting teams and clubs over the years.

Liz gained further musculoskeletal, orthopaedic and paediatric experience working both in the private sector and for various NHS trusts including Kent, Southampton and the Isle of Man as a senior 1 physiotherapist before moving to Somerset where she established Central Somerset Physiotherapy. Liz enjoys treating a wide range of conditions and has a special interest in muscle and joint pathologies and soft tissue therapy. She works with a wide range of clients treating elite sporting athletes, paediatric patients, various neurological conditions and the elderly. She is involved with several local sporting teams providing injury screening, physiotherapy assessment and treatment and sport massage.

Due to her expertise and popular demand Liz now works for Central Somerset Physiotherapy on a full time basis. Between juggling family life and practicing in the Burnham-on-Sea clinic Liz is most often found training and competing in the sport of triathlon.

Andy and Liz have ensured that Central Somerset Physiotherapy, having treatment facilities in the Blackbrook Leisure Centre, Yeovil Personal Fitness Gym, Riverside Fitness and the Burnham Swim & Sports Academy has become an integral part of local athlete’s preparation, injury prevention and rehabilitation regimes.

Both Liz and Andy are members of the Acupuncture Association of Chartered Physiotherapists (AACP) allowing them to use acupuncture as an adjunct to treatment and both have a keen interest in occupational physiotherapy and work related injuries and are members of the Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Occupational Health and Ergonomics (ACPOHE).

He is also qualified and offers treatment for BPPV.

Andy’s spare time is largely taken up by his young family and sport. He continues to participate in sport concentrating on triathlon and cycle sportive events. It is through this interest that Central Somerset Physiotherapy maintains a close link with local sporting clubs.
